On Love with Cansın Sağlam

For February—the month we’ve devoted to love—we sat down for a heartfelt mini interview with one of Luna Merdin’s inspiring women: Cansın Sağlam. Together, we explored themes of relationships, monogamy, and the power of talismans.

You’re invited to discover her thoughtful and refreshing insights below!

How would you define true love?

Actually, I think the phrase “true love” loses some of its meaning when those two words are put together. Love doesn’t need to be proven or qualified to be real. It just is, and the feeling it creates is unmistakable.

I’ve had four relationships where that feeling was mutual. Each one was unique and beautiful in its own way.

If you had to describe love in one word, what would it be?

Addiction and devotion.

What is Cansın like when she’s in love?

When I’m in love—and happy within that love, and fulfilled in return—I become a very happy person.

Also, I get a little lazy.

Do you believe in eternal love? Why or why not?

Honestly, I don’t really believe in it. Not because I’ve lost faith in eternal love, but because I think believing in something like that can lead us down an unrealistic path. Chasing “forever” love sometimes makes us forget how to simply enjoy the moment or be happy. We begin to see our partners through distorted expectations. I’ve never been someone who practices polyamory, but just being monogamous doesn’t mean I need to force a relationship into eternity. Trying to do so often leads to disappointment. It’s exhausting and unnecessary. Women—especially younger women like myself—tend to believe in eternal love so strongly that they give too much of themselves to make something last forever.

Eventually, they change, and the man they fell in love with no longer recognizes them. That’s why I think loyalty is actually the opposite of betrayal—not in the traditional sense, but in loving your partner as they are. I have many polyamorous friends who are happy in the.r relationships. Why? Because they show their partners genuine love and respect—just as they are.

Do you believe in talismans that strengthen love?

I absolutely do. Even though they’re tangible objects, I feel they bring me a special kind of energy or luck depending on how I look at them.

For example, I was once told that if I wore my Luna Merdin “Turna” Ring, I’d find love. At the time, I wasn’t really feeling open to love or happiness. But I put the ring on… And just a few hours later, I met Tolga, who is now my boyfriend. We’ve been together since July. :)
